Graduate Coursework in ABA

Graduate Training in ABA:

Our graduate course sequence consists of nine 10-week courses (3 credits each; total 27) designed to prepare students for certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst® in a variety of clinical settings. Oregon residents who complete the program and earn certification as a BCBA® will be eligible to apply as a Licensed Behavior Analyst in Oregon.

ABA 511: Foundations of ABA I (3 credits) – Basic principles, characteristics, and concepts of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Includes history of ABA, terminology, and applications.

ABA 512: Foundations of ABA II (3 credits)– Basic principles, characteristics, and concepts of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Includes foundational knowledge for practice of ABA & introduction to measurement and data analysis.
Prerequisites: ABA 511

ABA 521: Ethical and Professional Issues I (3 credits) – Introduction to ethical and professional issues in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Professional identity, certification and licensure, code of conduct, confidentiality and privacy.

ABA 522: Ethical and Professional Issues II (3 credits) – Examines ethical and professional issues in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) including ethical and professional conduct, ethical decision making, implementation, management and supervision, and professional practices.
Prerequisites: ABA

ABA 525: Research Methods in ABA (3 credits) – Methods for conducting valid and reliable behavioral measurement and experimental evaluations of behavior interventions, including data collection, data display, and data interpretation, and evaluating behavioral research designs.

ABA 526: Behavioral Assessment (3 credits) – Behavioral assessment including descriptive assessments and functional analysis; methods of assessment, data collection and interpretation; assessment based selection of intervention; ethical and practical issues.

ABA 531: Behavior Change I (3 credits) – Fundamental elements of, and ethical and practical considerations related to behavior change, behavioral interventions, behavior change systems, and specific behavior change procedures.
Prerequisites: ABA 512

ABA 532: Behavior Change II (3 credits) – Behavior analytic interventions. Fundamental elements of, and ethical and practical considerations related to behavior change, behavioral interventions, behavior change systems, and specific behavior change procedures.
Prerequisites: ABA 531

ABA 535: Special Topics in ABA (3 credits) – An examination of systems, interventions, current issues, and/or advances in Applied Behavior Analysis. This includes a focus on strategies for managing procedures, program implementation, and supervision of behavior change agents. Topics will vary by term.
