Major: Communication Studies and Dispute Resolution Certificate
Employment: Office Specialist, Registrar’s Office, Oregon Tech

Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

Oregon Tech was my preferred college due to the programs and degrees that are offered here. I also found the campus size very appealing. I have always appreciated going to a smaller university where I actually know my professors and they know me. I am treated as a student, not a number.

What do you like best about your major?

In June 2013 I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and my Dispute Resolution Certificate. One of the aspects that I enjoy most about my major is its versatility. I love knowing that I will be able to use my knowledge and skills of my degree wherever I go.

What would be your dream job in your major?

My dream job would consist of successfully leading a team or organization in a hospital setting. In my opinion, I believe that hospitals are a key outlet for helping people and making a difference. The most rewarding thing I could ever do with my degree would be to make a difference, no matter how great or small.

What’s your favorite thing to do off campus?

My favorite thing to do off campus is to spend time at Moore Park where I can hike the trails, lay by the lake, or sip a coffee while swinging. These simple activities serve as great study breaks for me or simply some nice down time. It’s refreshing to take a break there and enjoy some fresh air away from the hustle and bustle of campus.

What’s your most memorable moment on campus?

One of my most memorable moments is from a BBQ in the Residence Hall Quad that occurred during my first few days on campus. I had so much fun hanging out and getting to know my new group of friends, but I was unaware that we were creating lifelong friendships that day. Our little group is still very close and even though most of us have graduated, we still make the time to see each other whenever we can.
