Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

After working as a machinist for a few years, I wanted to get my degree at a school that works closely with industry. Oregon Tech has a great reputation for incorporating industry feedback into our curriculum. The involvement with Boeing and other companies makes me confident I will have the skills employers are looking for when I graduate.

What do you like best about your major?

I enjoy the hands-on aspect at this campus the most. Many students who have not worked in industry never get experience with the equipment and processes in manufacturing. At Oregon Tech, the faculty does an excellent job of giving us a well rounded hands-on education along with the theory.

What would be your dream job in your major?

I would like to go back into tooling and process design. My main interest is how a product line is developed on the manufacturing floor, but I would like to focus in progressive die design. My dream job would be in tooling design, but I enjoy so many aspects of manufacturing I would love to work in.

What’s your favorite thing to do off campus?

I'm fairly social, so I love to go out with groups for meals or movies. I've met interesting people from every major - and enjoy hearing their stories and interests. We spend too much time with the same small group in our majors, it's nice to get out and hear what life is like for everyone else.

What’s your most memorable moment on campus?

Last fall I was going to my morning class and saw the ASME club pulling the hovercraft to the Super Club sign-up. I just had to follow, and was amazed by all the fun things the clubs do here. I love that we can do such fun projects, every week I see a new great idea as the senior projects progress.
