Students enrolled in a Health Care Information Systems Management course at Oregon Tech recently met with Sandy Boatright, the Transformation Wellness Center (TWC) Executive Director, to learn more about the project they will be working on this fall quarter. The center is currently in need of upgrading their Electronic Management Records system and turned to the campus community for assistance.
Two years ago, students engaged in a project with Klamath Open Door Family Practice, which aided in their decision to select their current health record system.
"Oregon Tech’s Information Technology department was recommended to me by Klamath Open Door Family Practice,” said Boatright. “They said the students were very knowledgeable, thorough, and timely, and that is exactly what I need to make a sound decision for our agency.”
As the project manager, Oregon Tech senior, Erica Tesdahl, hopes her team will find a system that benefits Boatright’s organization. “I am most excited for this project because it is our first encounter working with a client, and this is what I have been working for all of my college career!”
Transformations Wellness Center (TWC) is a small non-profit, dual-diagnosis/co-occurring addictions treatment center located in Klamath Falls, Oregon. TWC specializes in treatment and counseling for individuals struggling with substance abuse, addiction and with mental health diagnoses.
“I am excited to see students get a chance to experience classroom theory in industry, which positively impacts our community,” said Jeff Dickson, Assistant Professor of Information Technology.
The project is currently underway. For more information regarding the project or to see how the Information Technology Department can assist your organization, contact Jeff Dickson at Oregon Tech at 541-885-1857 or Jeff.Dickson@oit.edu
