Where is Peer Consulting Services?
Peer Consulting Services is located on the second floor, in the center of the library building on the Klamath Falls campus. LRC 233, to be specific.
Is consulting available for anyone?
Current program structure allows current Oregon Tech students free-of-charge access to consulting services.
How much does consulting cost?
Nothing! Consulting services are free of charge to current Oregon Tech students.
Where can I find the consultant schedule?
The consultant schedule can be found on PCS Online, Students can view the drop-in schedule or set up an individual or small group consulting session.
Do you have a list of courses the consultants can help with?
Yes! Under the “Subjects” tab on PCS Online, we've created a full list of courses to help students find a Consultant for almost all classes offered here at Oregon Tech.
How do I request a consultant for a subject that's not listed in the Find a Tutor page?
The best ways are to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, call us at 541-851-5236, or stop by the Peer Consulting Center (LRC 233) and talk to us directly.
But I don’t live in Klamath Falls. How can I get Peer Consulting?
Using our PCS Online platform, you can view our online tutoring schedule and work with a Consultant in real time via video and voice chat sessions or through email. We will also be offering videos for download and streaming on YouTube in the near future.
I don’t see the specific course I need help in. Can I still get help?
Absolutely! If you don’t see your course listed or a consultant that is scheduled for the time you would like help with, shoot us an email and we will do our best to get you the assistance you need.
I just need someone to proofread my paper for class. Can I drop it off and have it edited?
Sorry. We don’t offer copy editing services. We can review your paper for specific questions you may have, but we can’t proofread and make changes for you. We also won’t check your homework for mistakes. We will help you proofread and edit your work but you have to be present for the assistance.
How far in advance can I schedule consulting appointments?
You can set one up as soon as an hour or as far out as nine weeks (or the end of the current term). Don’t forget, you can always Drop-In for more immediate assistance.
Should I bring anything with me?
Yes. Make sure to bring your textbook and any current or relevant assignments or questions.
Didn’t you guys used to be called Tutoring Services?
Yes, yes we did. In the Summer of 2013, we adopted the title of Peer Consulting because rather than being tutors (private teachers) we serve more as consultants providing advice and guidance. And, since most of the consultants here are students and your classmates, we are your peers. Hence: Peer Consultant!
