(Include brief history). 1947; the first classes were held in the deactivated WWII Marine Corps Hospital. The majority of courses offered were hands on training programs, which could provide ready employment in a country shifting from a war economy to one of peace. All students can ride the city bus, free of charge, with their student ID (or just ride with a friend)! What attractions are in reasonable distance to the college? Crater Lake National Park, Lake of the Woods recreation area, Lava Beds National Park, Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, the ocean/beaches within 4 hours, Klamath Lake, Rogue River, rafting, fishing, hiking, mountain lakes, fishing golf, skiing, backpacking, horse-back riding, local theater, top-rated Ross Ragland Theater, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, and the Klamath Falls Museum, Gallery, and Symphony Orchestra. Is there an ATM on campus? Yes! One is located in the College Union, and another located in Purvine Hall. What is the class attendance policy concerning cuts? It depends on the Professor. Does OIT offer a freshman orientation program? Yes; the weekend before school starts there are many activities put on to help students meet new people, become more comfortable on campus, and have a great time doing it. Does OIT have campus safety officers? Yes! The officers make rounds regularly to ensure the safety of our students. They are available by phone 24 hours a day. Will OIT accommodate special service needs such as diets, medications, psychology counseling? Absolutely. Student Health Services are happy to help with diet and medical needs, and counseling services are available in the Learning Resources Center. Who are some well known graduates/alumni? One of the Vice Presidents of Intel, the President and Founder of A/D Electronics and several other upper management individuals from companies including Intel, Hewlett Packard, and Boeing. Are students required to purchase a meal plan? Students that are new to the Residence Hall must purchase a meal plan on their Residence Hall Account. Returning students are not required to purchase a meal plan, but can purchase points on their Tech Express card, and still earn the 5% bonus points. The meal plan varies in price from year to year. What campus organizations emphasize religious activities? The OIT Christian Fellowship is a non-denominational Christian group which meets for Bible study and fellowship every Friday evening. Through the year they have special activities such as ice cream socials, fall and spring retreats, and fellowship dinners. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes also meet weekly for a bible study with coaches. There are also many churches in the area that offer college student activities and services. What music groups exist (such as marching band, choir, ensemble)? The OIT Pep Band and several other student formed bands provide the OIT community with musical entertainment and service. Does the college sponsor a drama or theater club? OIT has a Theatre Club and the Campus Arts & Entertainment hosts events such as Musical Acts, Talent Shows, and Comedy Showcases. There is also a community theater in town called The Linkville Playhouse.

What other types of clubs/activities are on campus? The Campus Arts & Entertainment provides quality activities for the student body in accordance with their expressed wishes, interests and needs (there are 44 different clubs this year). They host events such as Homecoming Week, Club Competitions, Talent Shows, Comedy Showcases, Hypnotists, Musical Acts, Annual 'Price is Right' trips and Lecture Presentations, as well as helping co-sponsor activities and events presented by many OIT departments, such as Diversity Week, International Dinners, Super Club Sign-up Activities, BBQ's and dances.
