Oregon Tech Remains NAIA Division II Top-Rated Team

The Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls remain the No. 1 ranked team in NAIA II. The Owls take a 10-0 record into league play at home this Friday versus College of Idahon and Saturday versus No. 5 Eastern Oregon University.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Oregon Tech holds its position at No. 1 in the latest installment of the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced today (Dec. 1). Standing with a perfect 10-0 record, the Hustlin' Owls notched all 14 of the possible first-place votes and 374 total points.

Oregon Tech has won 10 straight games this season heading to Cascade Collegiate Conference play this Friday versus College of Idaho. The Hustlin' Owls will soon be tested, playing No. 5 ranked Eastern Oregon University in Klamath Falls on Saturday, December 2nd. Also ranked from the Cascade Conference are Warner Pacific at No. 15 and The Evergreen State College coming in at No. 20, who the Hustlin' Owls play December 20th in Olympia, WA.

Bethel (Ind.) stays at No. 2 from the preseason poll, followed by No. 3 Northwood (Fla.) and No. 4 Cedarville (Ohio). Four teams found themselves listed for the first time this year in the Top 25: No. 11 Black Hills State (S.D.), No. 18 Rio Grande (Ohio), No. 19 King (Tenn.) and No. 23 Grand View (Iowa).


Tech's Cavanaugh Earns Second Straight CCC Player of the Week Honor

PORTLAND, Ore. (December 1, 2008)---Oregon Tech post player, Christian Cavanaugh, was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Cavanaugh, who earned the honor for the second straight week, helped No. 1 ranked Oregon Tech to a 3-0 record for the week. Cavanaugh posted two double-doubles, while shooting 20-22 from the floor over the three-game span.

In Tuesday's non-conference affair with arch-rival Southern Oregon, Cavanaugh registered his first double-double of the week, netting 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in a 91-81 victory. In the first round game of the Flagship Inn Classic versus NAIA Division-1 The Master's College, Cavanaugh registered his second double-double of the week with 15 points and 12 rebounds in an 81-63 win. Cavanaugh then carried the Owls to an 80-62 win over Simpson University, to capture the Flagship Inn Classic, with 17 points and seven rebounds.

The Hustlin' Owls (10-0) host two exhibition games versus the Bendigo Braves (Australia) before opening conference play on Friday against College of Idaho.
