(Klamath Falls, Ore.) – On Senior Day, Oregon Tech Senior Tommy Wood singled in the game winner in the bottom of the 9th to lift the Hustlin’ Owls to an 8-7 win and a double-header split with Concordia University Sunday afternoon at Kiger Stadium. Oregon Tech concludes the 2012 season at 18-33 and 11-21 in conference play. Concordia falls to 23-26 and 15-17 in conference play and will host the NAIA West Tournament May 2nd thru the 4th in Portland, Ore.
In game 1, Concordia used 15-hits to score 14-runs on the way to a 14-2 win. Concordia scored 8-runs in the 6th inning and added 5 more runs in the 8th led by Jordan Keeker and Sean Myrom who had 3-hits apiece.
Three Cavalier pitchers combined to limit Oregon Tech to 2-runs, spreading out 10-hits with Eric Weir picking up the win to improve to 4-6 on the year.
Concordia also turned 4 double plays to end several Oregon Tech opportunities.
Ryan Hayden and Dustin Norman had 2-hits each for the Hustlin’ Owls.
In game 2, Concordia scored 2-runs in 3rd inning taking advantage of a hit batter and 2 doubles.
Oregon Tech answered, scoring 2-runs in the bottom of the inning on 4-hits including 2-doubles.
Tech then took the lead, scoring 3-runs in the 5th inning on 3 walks and 2-hits to take the lead 5-2.
Sean Myrom led off the 6th with a deep homerun to left field and then scored on a walk and 2-wild pitches to make it a 5-4 game.
Oregon Tech scored 2 more times in the bottom of the 6th on a walk and 3-hits to go up 7-4.
Concordia scratched across a run in the 7th inning and then tied the game with 2-runs in the top of the 9th taking advantage of 2 walks and 3 wild pitches to tie the game at 7 without a base hit.
Oregon Tech’s Alex Reynolds was hit by a pitch to begin the bottom of the 9th and was then sacrificed over to 2nd base by Kevin Shulemson. After Tyson Dahl struck out, Tommy Wood, playing the last game of his collegiate career, hit a 2-out single and singled down the left field line to score Reynolds with the game winner.
Oregon Tech’s Chase Meister went the distance on the hill pitching all 9 innings to improve to 1-3 on the season.

(KLAMATH FALLS, ORE.) – Concordia University swept a Cascade Conference double-header from Oregon Tech Saturday night at Kiger Stadium winning game 1, 13-12 and game 2, 6-1. With the sweep Concordia improves to 22-25 on the season and 14-16 in conference play. The Cavaliers also clinch a spot in the NAIA West Baseball Tournament next week in Portland, Ore. Oregon Tech falls to 17-32 on the season and 10-20 in conference play. The two teams will meet Sunday morning at 11:00 am at Kiger Stadium to conclude the regular season. Sunday will also be Senior Day as Oregon Tech will honor its four graduating seniors: Kory Locken, Zack Earle, Tommy Wood, and Aaron Jogensen.
In Game 1, Concordia took advantage of 7 walks and 5 Oregon Tech errors, combined with 10 hits, to win game 1 13-12. Oregon Tech used 14 walks and 9 hits to score its 12 runs in the loss.
Concordia scored 2-runs in the 4th, 3-runs in the 5th, 2-runs in 7th, 1-run in the 8th and added 5 more in the 9th inning for its 13-runs.
Oregon Tech scored 1-run in 2nd inning, 1-run in the 4th, 4-runs in 5th, 2-runs in the 7th and 4 more in the 9th and had the game tying run thrown out at 3rd base to end the game.
Sean Myrum, Blake Drake, and Mike Dickman each at 2-hits to lead the Concordia attack.
Kory Locken had 3-hits for Oregon Tech with Dylan Rodgers and Dustin Norman adding to hits apiece in the loss with Norman belting his 4th Homerun in the 4th.
In game 2, Concordia starter Larsen Kohler went the distance striking out 10 Hustlin’ Owls while spreading out 8-hits and allowing just 1-run picking up the win to improve to 6-4 on the season.
Concordia scored 1-run in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th innings and then added 2-runs in the 9th to win going away 6-1.
Mike Cero led the Cavalier attack picking up 3-hits with Jordan Keeker, Carl Beckert, Blake Drake, and Sean Myrom each adding 2-hits in the 13-hit game. Myrom hit his 5th homerun of the season to lead off the 2nd inning to deep center field.
For Oregon Tech Alex Reynolds, Dylan Rogers and Dustin Norman each had 2-hits.
Tech starter Aaron Jorgensen pitched 8 innings striking out 9 while walking 4 and giving up 11 hits and 5-runs to fall to 1-7 on the season.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) – Due to a scheduling conflict at Kiger Stadium, Head coach Matt Miles announced today that this weekend’s NAIA West baseball series between Oregon Tech and Concordia University will be rescheduled.
This Saturday’s doubleheader, originally scheduled to begin at 12 p.m., is now moved to a 5 p.m. start time. The series will conclude as originally planned on Sunday with the first of two games to begin at 11 a.m.
Oregon Tech takes a 17-30 overall mark, along with a 10-18 NAIA West record, into this weekend. Meanwhile, Concordia is 20-25 overall and 12-16 in the NAIA West standings.
Both Oregon Tech and Concordia are aiming for a playoff spot into the NAIA West postseason. Oregon Tech will need three wins in four tries to continue their season, while the Cavaliers are seeking at least two wins to solidify a spot in postseason play.
The winner of the NAIA West postseason tournament, played at Concordia University in Portland, will earn the grouping's automatic bid to the NAIA Championships.
All games this weekend are scheduled for nine innings and will be played at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls.
