Lady Owls Improve to 16-5 with Split at Simpson

(REDDING, Calif.) -- No. 9 Oregon Tech wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a double header split at Simpson University on Sunday afternoon winning game 1, 4-3 and dropping the night cap 4-0. The Lady Owls move to 16-5 on the season and will begin Cascade Conference play next weekend traveling to College of Idaho (10-8) next Friday and Eastern Oregon (7-5) next Saturday.
In game 1, Oregon scored 2-runs in the first and added 2 more runs in the 4th inning then held on for the 4-3 win.
Oregon Tech scored the first 2-runs in the 1st inning on 2-hits and 2 Red Hawks’ errors.
The Lady Owls would add 2 more runs in the 4th inning on 2-hits and a walk highlighted by a Kayla Prock 2-run double.
Oregon Tech starting pitcher Taylor Schmidt spread out 7-hits and 3-runs, improving to 9-1 on the season.
Shauna Collins had 2-hits to lead the Oregon Tech offense.
In game 2, Simpson scored 3-runs on 4-hits aided by 2-Oregon Tech errors in the 1st inning to take the early 3-0 lead. The Red Hawks would not look back as starting pitcher Emily Stokes would go the distance giving up just 4-hits to OIT over 7-innings while striking out 8 to improve her record to 2-2 on the season.
Rylee Carleton picked up the tough luck loss for OIT, falling to 7-3. Carleton gave up only one earned run on 9-hits over her 5-innings of work.
Shauna Collins once again led the Oregon Tech offense with 2-hits.
