KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech head coach Jack Kegg announced recently the signing of three athletes to the cross country and track teams, as Kayla Parsons (Medford, Ore.), Matt Blanco (Rogue River, Ore.) and Ryan Perry (Medford, Ore.) will begin competing this fall.

Parsons, from South Medford High School, ran a 5:01.09 1500 meters and clocked in at 11:01.40 in the 3000 meter race for the Panthers.  In the 5K event in cross country, Parsons ran a 19:43.

“Kayla is a strong quiet runner with a can do attitude that empowers others,” mentioned Kegg.

Blanco, out of Rouge River High School, clocked in at just over two minutes in the 800 meter race (2:00.20), while running a 4:22.10 in the 1500 meter race.  In the 5K event in cross country, Blanco’s best time is 17:23, moving to the 8K collegiately.

“Matt will bring the programs untapped talent, as he will be very exciting to watch improve and mature over the next four years at Oregon Tech,” Kegg said.

Perry, a Lane Community College transfer, ran a 25:27 time in the 8K, while in track posted times of 1:54.78 in the 800 meter race and 4:02.56 in the 1500 meter event.

“Ryan brings great range to a talented distance squad that should break new ground for Oregon Tech.” Kegg continued. “Ryan looks to be a large part of that success.”
