Owl Series Winding Down

10.31.2012

GAME 3-

The Gold squad rode a Chase Meister one-hit pitching performance to an 8-1 victory Friday afternoon. The Gold team opened the scoring with a Dylan Rogers two run homer. The next two innings had a run scoring single, first by Tyson Dahl and followed by Jared Nelson.

The Black squad could only manage solo homerun by Marty Shanks.

GAME 4-

The Black squad used a 4 run bottom of the ninth to steal game 4 by a 6-5 score. Tyler Conklin hit a two run shot down the third base line to conclude the game in walk-off fashion.

Brandon Allen got the win in relief after a solid starting pitching performance by Justin Dibble. Marty Shanks led the black squad with a double and triple and scored twice.

Bryce McKinney Paced the Gold team with two doubles and two RBI.

GAME 5-

The Black team took advantage of some poor pitching and a few defensive miscues by the Gold team to take Game 5 by an 8-3 final and a lead in the series at 3 games to two. The combination of three Gold pitchers allowed ten walks, 6 which eventually scored, while the Gold offense could not keep pace.

Tyson Dahl led all hitters with a double and triple as Tyler Conklin added 3 hits including a double. Ian Moore added a homerun.

GAME 6-

Game 6 was a well pitched game between BJ Wilson (Gold) and Talon Sisley (Black). Black got on the scoreboard first in the 4th inning, as an RBI double Tyler Conklin was followed by a run scoring single by Henry Rueda.

Gold team added a single run in the 4th using an RBI double down the rightfield line by Dylan Rogers which plated Ethan Schlecht. The Gold team knotted the game at two in the bottom of the 5th as an RBI groundout by Nick Jernberg scored Bryce McKinney.

Black answered back with a run in the top of the 6th to retake the lead, using an RBI single by Austin Chamberlin which plated Ben Krueger.

Gold would retake the lead by taking advantage of an error and two walks to set up a two out Derek Gummersall single, scoring two. Thus giving the Gold a 4-3 lead through six full.

Black wouldn’t wait long as Ryan Hayden knocked in Ben Krueger to tie the game in the top half of the seventh inning. A scoreless bottom half would set up the game winning run for the Black squad in the 8th as a misplayed popup with two outs would allow Marty Shanks to score from second base. Talon Sisley would again blank the Gold squad in the bottom of the eighth to pick up the win as Eric Christiansen finished out the ninth to nail down the game and pick up his first save of the series.
