Oregon Tech Drops Road Contest to Menlo, 79-61

ATHERTON, Calif. – Oregon Tech managed an early lead versus No. 26 Menlo College, but the home team would use a 15-5 run to take control and defeat the Owls 79-61 in today’s non-conference women’s basketball action.

Tech falls to 8-3 overall and will take on Cal Pac member Cal-Maritime Saturday in Vallejo, Calif. beginning at 1:00 PM. Menlo, meanwhile, improved to 11-0 on the year.
Back-to-back baskets by Karissa Dixon and Maria Ramirez gave the Owls a 4-0 advantage to open the game. At the 13:37 mark Menlo would tie things up at 6-6.
Menlo then pushed their way to a double digit lead, 19-9, just past the midway point, as the Owls went into the half down 12 points, 40-28.
Menlo opened the second half with a 3-point field goal and never let the Owls get any closer. Menlo would eventually go up by 22 on two occasions, the last with just under 5 minutes to play, as the Owls fell tonight by a 79-61 final.
Karissa Dixon led Tech with 18 points while grabbing 4 rebounds in the loss. Kassi Conditt added 9 points and 7 rebounds, with Rebekah Matteri and Tess Armstrong coming off the bench to record 7 points and 6 points, respectively.
Oregon Tech will take on Cal-Maritime, for the second time on the year, tomorrow before a pair of exhibition contests at home versus Northwest Indian College on Sunday and Monday. Both games will be tip-off at 5:30 PM at Danny Miles Court in Klamath Falls.
