Oregon Tech Men Take 2nd, Women 3rd in Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. – Tech’s Sara Howard bested her own school-record after shaving 10 seconds off the old mark from just two weeks ago, while Jeff Pelarde and Scott Minor finished third and fourth overall to lead the Oregon Tech men to a second place team finish at the George Fox Adidas Invitational at Fern Hill Park on Saturday.
In the women’s race Howard finished 8th overall, followed by a Personal Best times from Ashleigh Baldovino (18:45), Elisa Brouillard (19:50) and Mary Matchett (19:54). Baldovino was 14th overall, with Kayla Parsons finishing 30th in 19:47. Brouillard crossed 31st and Matchett 33rd for the Owls.
As a team the Owl women placed third behind College of Idaho’s first place showing and Carroll College in second. Howard completed the 5K course in 18:20.4 in a race won by Hillary Holt of C of I in 17:35.8
The Oregon Tech men, ranked No. 25 in last weeks’ NAIA Poll, finished second overall as a team with 54 points, followed by No. 12 College of Idaho with 27 points.
Pelarde covered the men’s 8K in 25:19.8, followed by Minor’s 25:28.7 time. Rounding out Tech’s Top 5 were Kirby Garlitz in 12th place (26:22), James Hull 21st (26:55) and Paul Adams 22nd overall clocking in at 26:57. C of I’s Greg Montgomery took individual honors with a 25:00.2 time in the race.
