Clarke Leads Tech Past Yotes

CALDWELL, Idaho – David Clarke scored 20 of his game-high 26 points in the second half, as defending NAIA Division II national champion Oregon Tech held off The College of Idaho, 68-62, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Owls (12-11, 3-8 CCC) led 28-22 at the break, with Clarke scoring eight-straight points early in the second half to give Tech their largest lead of the night at 37-29, before the Yotes rallied, using a 9-2 run to close the gap to 39-38 with 14 minutes to play. The game played between a one and two possession game the rest of the way, with the Yotes having five chances to tie the game in the final three minutes, but could not get over the hump.
Clarke added 10 rebounds for OIT in the win, as the Owls outrebounded the Yotes (10-11, 6-5), 40-29. Mijahlo Matic had 13 points for Tech, with Alex Zerbach adding 12. Kyle Waits had a game-high 12 boards in the win.
Taylor Pruett led the Yotes with 24 points, with Antonio Garrett adding eight points and seven rebounds. Ben Van Lith and Rodney Delgardo each had eight points for the Yotes, who made just 13-of-23 free throws and lost despite forcing 21 turnovers.
Oregon Tech will host Concordia on Friday night and and Warner Pacific on Saturday for "Pink Out"
