HAYWARD, Calif. – Oregon Tech fell to 3-7 on the season after NCAA II Holy Names University swept the Owls in consecutive days, (11-1, 5-4) in non-conference baseball action today on the campus of Cal State East Bay in Hayward.
Game 1 – Oregon Tech managed just three hits in today’s opener with
Ryan Hayden recording two, including a double, with Tyson Dahl adding
a single. Tech’s Eric Christiansen (1-1) suffered the loss allowing nine hits
and five earned runs in four innings on the mound.
Oregon Tech’s lone run of the game came in the fifth inning, as Colton
Minton earned a walk and later stole second. After a ground out and a
runner on third base, Cameron Cole’s sacrifice fly pushed across Minton,
as the Owls closed to 4-1. HNU, however, notched a single run in the
fifth and extended their lead to 10 with a six-run sixth inning, 11-1.
Game 2 – Tied 4-4 heading into the last inning, Tech went scoreless and
thehome team managed a two out RBI single to earn the sweep over the
Owls, winning 5-4 in the seven inning nightcap. Tech pushed across a
pair of runs in each of the third and fourth innings to tie the game at 4-4,
but never could get the lead.
Aaron Bocchi doubled and drove in two runs with Josh DeVaughn and
Alex Antonaras recording a RBI apiece in the nightcap. Colton Minton
added two hits, including a double, with Dahl and Hayden recording
doubles in the finale.
Oregon Tech next travels to Portland for the Concordia Tournament
facing single games on Friday and Saturday versus NCAA III Puget
Sound and PacificLutheran, with a pair of games scheduled for this
Sunday versus Willamette University and Linfield College in McMinnville.
