PORTLAND – Austin Taylor tossed a complete game four hitter, as the Oregon Tech baseball team notched a 2-1 win in game 1 of the Concordia University Tournament over Puget Sound University today at Porter Park.
Taylor tossed all nine innings giving up an earned run while striking out five Loggers. Tech recorded 10 hits in the game with Dominic Morris swinging for three hits, including a pair of doubles and a RBI. Ethan Schlecht finished 2-for-3 with the game winning RBI in the sixth.
PSU scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the first before the Owls tied the game at 1-1 in their half of the fifth.
Morris doubled in the fifth inning, scoring Cameron Cole who earlier walked, to tie it at 1-1. It didn’t take long for the Owls to take a lead and hold on for the 2-1 win. Tech led off the sixth with back-to-back singles from Ryan Hayden and Spencer Reed. Ethan Schlecht next connected on one of his two singles of the contest to push the Owls out to a 2-1 advantage, which would become the game winner, after Taylor kept PSU scoreless for the remainder.
Oregon Tech improves to 4-7 on the season and next takes on Pacific Lutheran Saturday in McMinnville.
