Oregon Tech Bats Silent in Doubleheader Loss to Corban

SALEM, Ore. – Oregon Tech managed just one hit in the opener as Corban got by the Owls in game 1 by a 6-1 score, while CU tallied seven runs in their first at bat of game 2 eventually winning 13-1 in the nightcap.

Game 1 – Oregon Tech fell behind 2-0 after the first inning and were unable to push a run across until the eighth inning. Corban moved up 6-0 after adding single runs in the fourth and fifth innings with two more in the sixth.

In the eighth Tech managed their lone run after a leadoff single by Spencer Reed, advancing to second on a CU error. Marty Shanks next reached on an error by the shortstop and Reed would score after an errant throw by the left fielder to make it 6-1. That would be it for Tech as Corban pitcher Kopra allowed just one hit and struck out five in 7.1 innings of work.

Game 2 – Corban notched seven runs in their half of the first with the Owls coming away with a single run in the second to make it 7-1.

Aaron Bocchi walked with Ethan Schlecht following with a single. Three wild pitches in the inning eventually scored Bocchi for Tech’s lone run.

The score remained the same until the Warriors added six more in the 5th to win 13-1 in the five inning shortened game.

Tyson Dahl and Ryan Hayden finished with a hit each with Ethan Schlecht finishing 2-for-2. Dahl accounted for Tech’s lone extra base hit with a triple.

Oregon Tech will next play a doubleheader versus Montana State-Billings in Medford beginning at noon at Harry & David Field.
