Hustlin’ Owls Sign Yakima Valley Transfer

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Joel Yellow Owl, a 6-4 guard/forward from Zillah, Wash., has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Oregon Tech, head coach Dan Miles announced recently.

Yellow Owl transfers to Tech after averaging 18.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Yakima Valley Community College (Yakima, Wash.).  Under the tutelage of YVCC head coach Ray Funk, Yellow Owl was a NWAACC first team East Region selection, while earning all-academic honors this past season for the Yaks.  Yellow Owls posted a 53.0% overall shooting percentage while connecting on 74-percent of his tries from the charity stripe.

We are very excited to sign Joel,” said Miles.  “He plays the game with great energy and quickness and will impact our team over the next two seasons.”

Joel is the son of Jeff Yellow Owl and Cynthia Dakota and plans to major in business at Oregon Tech beginning this fall.
