Oregon Tech Closes Out Day 2 of the San Francisco Distance Carnival

San Francisco, Calif. – The second day of the Seventh Annual Distance Carnival hosted by SF State saw several great performances from Tech athletes, highlighted by second place finishes by Mary Matchett, Joelle Swanson and Jack Roberts in their respective events.

Day 1 & Day 2 Compiled Results SF Distance Carnival

Matchett finished the 2 mile run in 11:34.75, while Swanson tossed the javelin 137-08 in today’s events.  Tech had four more athletes finish in the top 10 in the 2 mile run, including Samantha Lindauer (4th-11:51.38), Sara Howard (5th-11:53.21), Kelly Coash (9th-12:13.42) and Kayla Parsons (10th-12:21.58).  Kassi Conditt added a 5th place in the shot put with a distance of 43-00.25, improving on last week’s competition.  The event was won by Hawaii’s Charlinda Ioane with a distance of 45-07.25.  Kara Wood would time in at 16.17 in the 100 meter hurdle race. 

On the men’s side Roberts crossed the line in the 2 mile run in 9:42.10.  In the 1 mile run Tech had three athletes finish in the top 10 with Conner Deveroex, Matt Blanco and James Pearson finishing in 4:32.2, 4:33.25 and 4:35.19 respectively.  Anthony Padilla added a 7th place showing in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.66, while Miles Taylor recorded a time of 51.69 in the 400 meter race.  Jacob Ovgard finished 10th in the 100 meter race (11.31) and 13th in the 200 with a time of 22.73.
