KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Head volleyball coach Jason Corwin announced that Lauren Garlie has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Oregon Tech beginning this fall.

Garlie (Challis, Idaho) most recently competed at NCAA II Northwest Nazarene University, earning GNAC all-academic honors in 2012.

At Challis High School the 6-2 outside hitter led the Vikings to state championships in 2007 and 2010 with runner-up finishes in 2009 and 2010.  Garlie was also named the Snake River Conference Player of the Year during the 2010-11 basketball season, while earning Challis High School Female Athlete of the Year honors.

Lauren joins sister, Madisen Garlie, when the Owls open up the 2014 season on August 21st in Angwin, Calif. at the Pacific Union College tournament.

“Lauren is a very versatile athlete that will bring a lot of experience to our program,” said Corwin.  “She is a five-tool athlete with six rotation ability.  We love her energy and her personality has been a great fit with our program.”  Corwin continued.  “She works extremely hard and is dedicated to improving every day.  We are very blessed to be adding Lauren to our volleyball program.”

Lauren is the daughter of Todd and Carmen Garlie and plans to major in applied psychology beginning at Oregon Tech this fall.
