(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) – The No. 17 Oregon Tech Lady Owls swept a Cascade Conference double-header from visiting Northwest University 3-0 and 10-1, Friday afternoon at the Oregon Tech Softball Complex. The Owls improve to 18-3 in CCC play and 26-8 overall with the sweep. Northwest slips to 1-26 overall and 1-21 in CCC play.
In game 1, both starting pitchers dominated early keeping each team off the scoreboard until OIT finally broke through with 2-runs in the bottom of the 5th inning on 3-hits and an error.
The Owls added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th taking advantage of a Northwest error and a Cassidy Olson RBI single.
Olson was solid in the circle pitching 6 innings, spreading out only 4-hits while striking out 7 as she improved to 10-5. Rylee Carleton pitched one full inning in relief to pick up the save.
In game 2, Shauna Collins got the Owls on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first with a leadoff double off of the left field wall; she would come in to score on a McKenzie Shrum double to give Tech the early 1-0 lead.
The Owls would add more 2-runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning as Shrum was at it again, this time a 2 RBI single to give the home team a 3-0 lead.
Oregon Tech would break the game open in the 4th inning scoring 7-runs on 6-hits cruising to the 10-1 win.
Jessi Duncan picked up the win in the circle as she improved to 12-3 on the year for the Owls, spreading out 4-hits, and 1-run while striking out 4.
Collins, Shrum, Tori Weatherford, and Danielle Sayers all had 2-hits each to the OIT offense.
Oregon Tech will host Concordia University Saturday in a battle for 1st place in the CCC. The Cavaliers are currently 17-4 just one game back of OIT for the conference crown. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 am at the OIT Softball Complex. Northwest will travel to Ashland, Ore. to play Southern Oregon also scheduled for 11:00 am.
Oregon Tech's double-header with Southern Oregon scheduled for Tuesday has been moved to Monday first pitch will be 2:00 pm.
