Women Picked 6th Men 8th in CCC Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll
LA GRANDE Ore. – After placing sixth in last year’s conference standings the Oregon Tech women’s soccer team was selected to finish 6th again this year, while the Oregon Tech men’s soccer team looks to move up the CCC poll after an 8th place prediction.  

On the women’s soccer side Concordia was the clear favorite to take the title with Northwest picked second.  Corban edged out Southern Oregon for third while Oregon Tech is predicted sixth this season behind Eastern Oregon. Northwest Christian was picked 7th followed by College of Idaho, Warner Pacific and Evergreen.

Third year Head Coach Mike Hedlund will lead the Owl women into the 2014 soccer campaign trying to improve on a 7-10-1 overall mark from last season. The Owls open up the 2014 season on the road with two games at the University of Antelope Valley in Lancaster, California on August 22nd and 23rd against the Arizona Christian University and the host team UAV. The home schedule kicks-off on Saturday, August 30th versus Trinity Lutheran College beginning at 1 p.m. The next five contests are non-conference games and are all on the road. The Owls will then open up Cascade Conference play on Thursdays, September 25th against Northwest University at 7:00 pm. All home games will be played on Trevor Derrah field at Steen Sports Park.

On the men’s side Corban is the preseason favorite grabbing all first place votes. Concordia was selected second in the early prognostication.  Northwest edged out Evergreen for third while College of Idaho, Warner Pacific, Northwest Christian and Oregon Tech rounded out the poll.

The Tech men’s soccer team, and third year head coach Matt Munhall, will look to improve on a 5-13-0 overall mark when they open the 2014 season on the road at Simpson University on Saturday, August 23rd in Redding California. The Owls begin the 2014 season with their first four games on the road before opening up Cascade Conference action on Tuesday, September 16th versus Northwest University at 11:00 am in the first of seven home games to be played at Trevor Derrah Filed at Steen Sports Park.
