ANGWIN, Calif. – Oregon Tech moved to 3-0 on the 2014 volleyball season after defeating Pacific Union College, for the second time in as many days, 3-1 (25-20, 25-11, 23-25, 25-22), while next sweeping by West Coast Baptist, 3-0 (25-20, 25-6, 25-17) this afternoon at PUC gymnasium.
The Owls will have a day off on Friday before closing out their five match California road swing with a pair of matches at UC-Merced on Saturday in Merced, Calif.
Renee Baumann nearly notched a double-double versus PUC with 13 digs to go with her nine kills. Mykala Rubey totaled a match-high 11 kills with Kelsey Rank and Madisen Garlie combining for seven kills in the win for Tech. Tori Porter came away with 23 assists and two aces with Brooke Molloy and Kelsey Sampson (pictured) anchoring the Owls’ defense with 19 and 16 digs, respectively.
Versus WCB, newcomer Whitney Webster tallied a match-high 15 kills, followed by Sampson with nine and Joelle Swanson with five kills. Tech setter Waverly Green recorded 36 assists with Baumann adding 14 assists and Porter nine in the victory.
