Lady Owls Drop Season Opener
(LANCASTER, Calif.) The Pioneers of Antelope Valley scored three second half goals to knock off Oregon Tech 3-0 Friday afternoon at Antelope Valley High School. The game was the season opener for Tech. Antelope Valley evened their record to 1-1 with the win.

Antelope Valley dominated play in the first half, totaling 13 shots to the Owls one. The Pioneers however could not find the back of the net thanks to stellar play from Oregon Tech’s Goal Keeper Rebekah Matteri who was credited with 6 saves in the stanza.

AVU picked up the first goal of the game as Shawna Saitta (Quartz Hill, California) took a loose ball and took a long 45’ shot that just went over the hands of Matteri for the game winner in the 58th minute.

The Pioneers would add two more goals in the final minutes to win 3-0.

Oregon Tech was led offensively by Cody White (Bow, Washington) who had 2 shots both on goal for the Owls. Defensively, Tech got solid play from both Daisha Acorda (Honokaa, Hawaii) and Chrishtianna Newell (Juneau, Alaska)

The Lady Owls will try to bounce back on Saturday against Arizona Christian University at 2:00 pm also in Lancaster, California.
