Tech Men Earn Top-25 Ranking, Tech Women Receive Votes
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Picked 5th in last week’s preseason conference poll, the Oregon Tech men’s cross country team will open the season this Saturday at home versus Northwest Christian University ranked 25th in the 2014 NAIA Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll, the NAIA National Office announced Wednesday.


Reigning NAIA National Champion, Oklahoma City takes top-spot after receiving 591 points and amassed 20 of the 21 first-place votes.  Southern Oregon, the 2013 national runner-up, will begin the new season in the second position. SOU, one of five teams from the Cascade Collegiate Conference in the poll, received 569 points and one first-place vote.  The rest of the top 5 rankings include No. 3 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) (550 points), followed by Aquinas (Mich.) in fourth (525) and St. Francis (Ill.) in fifth position (505).

CCC team’s in the top 25 include, Concordia University at No. 8 with 453 points, Eastern Oregon University in the 12th spot with 388 points and College of Idaho ranked 18th with 256 points.  Oregon Tech rounded out the poll with 91 points in the 25th spot.

In the Women's Poll, Northwest Christian led the CCC with 514 points and two first place votes to be ranked at No. 5. Southern Oregon women came in at No. 13, followed by Concordia at No.17, and College of Idaho at No. 23. The Oregon Tech women received a record 38 votes, the highest ever Preseason Ranking for the Lady Owls.
