Oregon Tech Stays at No. 1 in Coaches Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As the calendar flips over into 2009, one thing remains the same; Oregon Tech is still No. 1 in NAIA Division II Men's Basketball. The Hustlin' Owls own the top spot for the fourth straight time in the third edition of the 2008-09 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll announced today (Jan. 5). The defending national champions earned 341 total points and 10 of the possible 13 first-place votes. OIT had its 18 game winning streak snapped after its first loss this year, 82-68 at Evergreen State (Wash.) on Dec. 20. Oregon Tech ranks in the Top 10 statistically in six different categories including scoring offense (88.9 ppg).
Oregon Tech will next play host to Southern Oregon University (5-9, 3-2 CCC) Tuesday night, January 6th at Danny Miles Court at 7:30pm then will travel to Eugene, Oregon to take on Northwest Christian University (9-6. 3-3 CCC) on Friday January 9th at 7:30 pm
Three other Cascade Collegiate teams are ranked in the top-25, including Warner Pacific (11-2, 4-1 CCC) coming in at No. 10, Evergreen State (8-4, 4-1 CCC) at No. 15 and Eastern Oregon University (8-3, 2-2 CCC) at No. 19.
