Owls Capture Victory with Second Half Surge

KIRKLAND, Wash.
- After a grind-it-out first half tonight at the Eagles Nest in
Kirkland, the No. 5 ranked Hustlin' Owls scored 45 second half points
to secure a 64-57 win tonight over Northwest University in Cascade
Conference play.
Oregon Tech improved to 5-2 in the CCC and 16-3
overall. Northwest University drops to 4-2 in the conference standings
and 9-7 overall.
After the first 12 minutes of play, Tech only
led by a 16-15 margin. Northwest would finally find some offense, as a
9-0 Eagle gave the home team a 24-16 lead with just three minutes
remaining in the first period.
Oregon Tech scored the final three points of the half, as the teams went to intermission with the Eagles leading 24-19.
Oregon
Tech was just 7-for-27 from the field, including a cold 2-of-12 from
long distance. The Owl defense was able to keep the game close, holding
the Eagles to just 10 first half field goals and 33.3% shooting.
Justin
Parnell caught fire after the intermission, scoring 17 of his game-high
21 points all in the second half. Andy Siverly grabbed a career-high 15
rebounds, including five on the offensive end, and added seven points
to help in the victory in the tightly contested game. Joseph Foster
tallied 13 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Kyle Gomez
netted eight points for Tech.
Oregon Tech will travel to The Evergreen State College tomorrow with a 7:30 pm start.
