01.09.2010

KIRKLAND, Wash. - After a grind-it-out first half tonight at the Eagles Nest in Kirkland, the No. 5 ranked Hustlin' Owls scored 45 second half points to secure a 64-57 win tonight over Northwest University in Cascade Conference play.

Oregon Tech improved to 5-2 in the CCC and 16-3 overall. Northwest University drops to 4-2 in the conference standings and 9-7 overall.

After the first 12 minutes of play, Tech only led by a 16-15 margin. Northwest would finally find some offense, as a 9-0 Eagle gave the home team a 24-16 lead with just three minutes remaining in the first period.

Oregon Tech scored the final three points of the half, as the teams went to intermission with the Eagles leading 24-19.

Oregon Tech was just 7-for-27 from the field, including a cold 2-of-12 from long distance. The Owl defense was able to keep the game close, holding the Eagles to just 10 first half field goals and 33.3% shooting.

Justin Parnell caught fire after the intermission, scoring 17 of his game-high 21 points all in the second half. Andy Siverly grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds, including five on the offensive end, and added seven points to help in the victory in the tightly contested game.
