Hustlin' Owls Slip to No. 9 in Poll

(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) The Oregon Tech men’s basketball team slipped 2 spots to the No. 9 position in the NAIA 2010-11 Men’s Basketball Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll announced today (Jan. 24th). The Hustlin’ Owls are currently 19-3 overall and 10-1 in Cascade Conference play.
Eastern Oregon University (16-4, 8-3 CCC) and Northwest University (15-5, 7-4 CCC) Join Oregon Tech in the Top 25 with Eastern falling one spot to No. 12 and Northwest moving up two positions to No. 16 this week. Other Cascade Conference teams to receive votes week were Warner Pacific College (13-7, 6-4 CCC) and The College of Idaho (11-11, 8-3 CCC)
Top-ranked Walsh has been ranked in the top-five in each of the last 18 polls, dating back to last season… Embry-Riddle (Fla.) holds the most No. 1 rankings since the 2000 season with 17; Oklahoma Wesleyan and Oregon Tech are next with 12 mentions at No. 1… Oregon Tech and Walsh own the Division II active streak for longest run in the Top 25 at 70 straight weeks -- the last time either was not ranked was Jan. 11, 2005… Oklahoma Wesleyan is next in line with 40 consecutive rankings followed by Northwood (Fla.) at 35.
Oregon Tech will return to CCC play this Friday, January 28th when they host Northwest Christian University and Saturday, January 29th Corban University comes to town. Both games are scheduled for 7:30 pm tip-offs. The games can be heard live locally on 92.5 KLAD-FM and anywhere in the world at www.OITsports.com starting at 7:00pm with The Danny Miles Coaches Show with Mike Garrard and Bobby Thompson.
