KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech held Northwest Christian University to just 24% shooting and 17 first half points to take tonight’s Cascade Conference contest by a 70-45 final tonight at Danny Miles Court.
The ninth-ranked Owls ran their home win streak to 50-straight as Tech moved to 20-3 overall and continue to sit atop the CCC standings now at 11-1. NCU, meanwhile, falls to 1-11 in the conference standings and 7-17 on the year.
NCU never led, as the Owls took a 10 point cushion on three occasions, the last at 19-9 with seven minutes remaining in the opening period. A 16-8 run for OIT sent the ninth-ranked Owls to the intermission with a comfortable 35-17 advantage.
A Brent Johnson jumper to begin the second half gave Tech their first 20 point lead, while a pair of David Clarke free-throws with 14:34 remaining gave the home team a 25 point lead.
Oregon Tech gave the Beacons a window of hope to climb back in the contest, going scoreless over the next four minutes, however, the Tech defense allowed just four points over the same period to lead 49-28 near the halfway point.
A Bryant Sentman jumper broke the cold spell, as the Owls bumped the lead to 26 points and would never look back to win by a 70-45 final.
Four Owls finished in double figure points, led by Kyle Gomez and Brent Johnson with 11 points each. Bryant Sentman and Scotty Riddle followed with 10 points and combined for eight boards in the victory. Alex Zerbach grabbed a game-high six rebounds to go with seven points, while Gomez handed out four assists.
