Oregon Tech Picked 2nd in Conference Poll

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech was picked behind defending Cascade Collegiate Conference champion Concordia University according to a preseason poll of the conference’s seven head coaches. Concordia (49 points) is the unanimous choice to win the 2011 CCC softball crown, while the Owls are ranked second after gathering 38 points in the poll.

 

Oregon Tech open’s up at the Simpson Invitational in Redding, Calif. with a tripleheader on Saturday, February 12th.  OIT will face two Golden State Athletic Conference power teams, along with Cal Pac member Menlo College to begin the season.  The Owls open up with sixth-ranked Concordia Irvine–California, followed by Biola University and cap off the tripleheader with the Oaks of Menlo College.   

 

Oregon Tech’s 49-game spring schedule includes 16 home contests, beginning with a conference doubleheader versus No. 4 ranked Concordia University on Friday, March 18th and then host rival Southern Oregon on Tuesday, March 23rd to begin league action.

The winner of the CCC’s regular season crown will earn the right to host the conference’s three-team postseason tournament. The winner of the CCC postseason tournament will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NAIA Championships.

 

 Tech replaces just one senior and will return three first team all-conference players – and six starters overall.

 

Oregon Tech and Corban both received votes in the NAIA preseason Top 25 poll.
