Oregon Tech Drops Pair to Corban

MEDFORD, Ore. – The Oregon Tech baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games today to Corban College by scores o 12-10 and 6-3. The first game took 10 innings, while game 2 was scheduled for nine.
The Owls drop to 2-6 on the season, while Corban College improves to 2-1 after opening their season with the three-game series against Oregon Tech.
Four runs in the opening frame and two more in both the third and fourth innings gave Oregon Tech an 8-6 lead to open game 1.
Corban quickly answered with a four run fifth inning that put the Warriors ahead 10-8.
The Owls sent game 1 into extra innings with a two run ninth, but Corban would plate two of their own in the top of the 10th and hold Tech scoreless in the bottom half to win by a 12-10 final.
The Owls never recovered in game 2, as Corban led from start to finish. The Warriors went ahead 4-0 after three before Oregon Tech answered with two runs in the bottom half of the sixth to close the gap to 4-2.
Corban plated single runs in innings eight and nine to move to a 6-2 lead.
Oregon Tech looked to rally in the ninth, but was only able to add one run, as Tech would take the game 2 loss by a 6-3 final.
Cory Staniforth finished the day with a 6-for-9 effort at the plate, while adding two doubles and two RBI. Ryson Mauricio drove in a run on three hits on the day. Colin Stock was 3-for-5 with three RBI, including a homerun in the opening game, while Mitch Garcia doubled and drove in two runs of his own. Kevin Conway and Phil Sack added doubles, with Cory Spires tripling in game one, while Kealii Ribao was 1-for-1 and knocked in one run in the second game.
The Owls (2-6) will travel to the Bay Area to face San Francisco State for a doubleheader on both February 13th and 14th beginning both days at 11 am.
