Oregon Tech Slips Back to No. 10 in Coaches Poll

(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) The Oregon Tech men’s basketball team slipped 3 spots to the No. 10 position in the NAIA Division II 2010-11 Men’s Basketball Top 25 Coaches’ Poll announced today (Feb. 7th). The Hustlin’ Owls are currently in 1st place and have a 2 game lead with 3 games to play in the CCC with a record of 13-2 (22-4 overall) and can clinch at least a share of the conference title with a win this Saturday at SOU.
Eastern Oregon University (19-5, 10-4 CCC) and Northwest University (18-5, 10-4 CCC) Join Oregon Tech in the Top 25 with Eastern moving up one spot to No. 14 and Northwest moving up one position to No. 15 this week. Warner Pacific College (16-8, 9-5 CCC) was the only other Cascade Conference team to receive votes this week.
Top-ranked Walsh has been ranked in the top-five in each of the last 21 polls, dating back to last season… Embry-Riddle (Fla.) holds the most No. 1 rankings since the 2000 season with 17; Oklahoma Wesleyan and Oregon Tech are next with 12 mentions at No. 1… Oregon Tech and Walsh own the Division II active streak for longest run in the Top 25 at 72 straight weeks -- the last time either was not ranked was Jan. 11, 2005… Oklahoma Wesleyan is next in line with 42 consecutive rankings followed by Northwood (Fla.) at 37.
Oregon Tech will return to CCC play this Saturday, February 15th when they travel to Ashland, Oregon to play Southern Oregon University at 7:30 pm. The games can be heard live locally on 92.5 KLAD-FM and anywhere in the world at www.OITsports.com starting at 7:00 pm with The Danny Miles Coaches Show with Mike Garrard and Bobby Thompson.
