Oregon Tech Handles Evergreen, 90-62

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –Oregon Tech finished with five players in double figures, as the No. 2 ranked Hustlin Owls took out The Evergreen State College by a 90-62 final tonight in Cascade Conference men’s basketball action at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech moves to 24-3 overall and 13-2, with Evergreen dropping to 1-24 on the season and 0-16 in the CCC standings.
Evergreen State led the first three minutes, before a Bobby Hunter basket gave the Owls an 8-7 lead. Tech held just a three point advantage, 17-14, with 12:13 remaining in the opening period before a 10-1 run pushed the Owls out to a 27-15 advantage.
Tech claimed a 12 point lead with just under three minutes, but took a 16 point lead, 52-36, into the half after outscoring the Geoducks 10-6.
It was all Tech in the second half. Hunter controlled a rebound and his tip-in gave the Owls their first 20+ point cushion of the game four minutes in. Tech would gain their first 30 point advantage on a Hunter triple, moving up 75-45.
Oregon Tech would lead by as many as 36 points on three separate occasions before winning by a 90-62 final.
Bobby Hunter led all scorers with 24 points on an 8-for-13 effort from the field. Hunter nailed four 3-pointers and grabbed three rebounds and three assists in the win for the Owls. Jason Gamblin finished with 13 points, Kyle Gomez 12, Scotty Riddle 11 and David Clarke 10 in a balanced scoring attack. Gamblin and Riddle grabbed seven boards each, while Jordan Kiely handed out a team-high six assists and Clarke five.
Larry Green finished with a team-high 15 points, followed by 14 from Patrick Lewis and 13 points from Elzie Dickens in the loss for the Geoducks. Dickens grabbed six boards, while Mike Derosier handed out a game-high seven assists.
No. 2 Oregon Tech will host No. 8 Northwest University in a showdown of top-10 teams in the NAIA Saturday night with the tip off set for 7:30 p.m. Oregon Tech will honor three seniors, Scotty Riddle, Kyle Gomez and Bryant Sentman prior to tomorrow’s game where the three will be playing their last regular season home contest.
