REDDING, Calif. – After a 3-0 start to the season, top-rated Oregon Tech managed to go 1-2 on Saturday, day 2 of the Simpson Invitational Softball Tournament.  The Owls finished 4-2 on the weekend after defeating Biola University 2-1, but fell to No. 17 Azusa 8-4 and William Jessup by a 4-1 final.

Morgan Barnes picked up her second victory of the season after a complete game eight inning effort.  Barnes threw a three hitter, in the extra inning game won by Oregon Tech 2-1, while fanning seven and giving up one earned run.  Elise Goodell finished 2-3 in the game and scored a run, while a Jess Plummer sacrifice fly in the eighth inning drove in Barnes for the game winner.

In game 2, Tech fell 8-4 as APU scored four runs in the final inning. A pair of walks, two bloop singles and a two run single proved costly for the Owls. Plummer drove in two runs on a homerun, while Ashleigh Larson accounted for the other runs on a two run RBI single.

In the final game last night, Oregon Tech was outscored by William Jessup, 4-1.  The Owls didn’t help themselves, stranding 11 base runners in the game.  Tech’s Melissa Logan went 3 1/3 innings giving up three runs, dropping to 0-1 on the season.

Oregon Tech scored their only run in the sixth, as Shauna Collins singled to drive in Amber Knight.  Collins finished 2-4 at the plate in game 3, with Goodell adding a single and Logan a triple.
