Raiders Pull Away From Oregon Tech

ASHLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech trailed just 27-25 late in the first period, but Southern Oregon used a 9-2 push to head to the half up nine and never looked back, defeating the Owls in Cascade Conference action 73-57 tonight at Riehm Arena.
Oregon Tech dropped its eighth-straight game and fell to 10-18 overall and 2-14 in conference action. Southern Oregon improved to 15-13 overall and 8-8 in Cascade Conference play. Oregon Tech hosts Concordia University Friday and will conclude the season against Warner Pacific this Saturday.
Aundrea Albright led OIT with 12 points and seven rebounds. Freshman guard Karissa Dixon added 11 points and six rebounds, while Crissy Watts handed out five assists to go with six boards.
Alexi Smith led all scorers with 18 points and added 13 rebounds. Carly Wood finished with 13 points and Whitney Scott had 10 points.
The Raiders used a late first half run to take a 36-27 halftime lead. Oregon Tech had cut the SOU lead to 23-20 before the Raiders took off. A 3-pointer by Scott and then a 3-pointer by Josi McDermott as the first half clock expired had the Raiders rolling.
Krystal Smith pushed the lead to 42-29 on back-to-back layups following back-to-back Oregon Tech turnovers, as Oregon Tech never threatened for the remainder.
