No. 9 Oregon Tech Overpowers Willamette and Puget Sound to Move to 9-1

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) – Oregon Tech hit 4 home runs, scored 20 runs and out hit their opponents 20 to 5, while not allowing a single run in sweeping away Willamette University 9-0 and Puget Sound 11-0, on the final day of the Northwest Cup at Hood View Park on Sunday.
With the sweep Oregon Tech improves to 9-1 on the season and will next play 5 games next weekend at the SOU Invite at US Cellular Fields in Medford, Ore.
In Game 1, Oregon Tech scored 6-runs in the top of the 2nd inning taking advantage of two wild pitches, two walks and three hits, highlighted by an Alyssa Davis 3-run home run.
Tech would add three more runs in the 5th inning on 4 singles.
That would be more than enough runs for starting pitcher Rylee Carleton who pitched all 5 innings in the mercy rule shortened game, giving up just 2-hits, 4 walks while striking out 3 improving her record to 4-1
Danielle Sayres and Davis had 2-hits each to lead the Oregon Tech offense.
In Game 2, Oregon Tech scored 2-runs in the 1st inning, then added 3-runs in each inning after that to fly past Puget Sound 11-0 in a 5 inning mercy rule shortened game.
Jess Plummer put Tech on the scoreboard in the 1st inning hitting a 2-run home run to left field.
Tech added 3-runs in the 2nd on 5-hits all with 2-outs.
McKenzie Shrum then gave OIT an 8-0 lead as she hit a 3-run home run to right field in the 3rd inning.
Sara Coates would finish off the Tech scoring as she hit her own 3-run bomb to center field giving Tech an 11-0 lead.
Tech’s Taylor Schmidt picked up the win in the circle improving to 5-0 on the season. Schmidt struck out 6 allowing only 3-hits while walking none in 5 innings.
