Owls Drop a Pair of 3-1 Games

WILSONVILLE, Ore. – The Oregon Tech baseball team dropped a pair of 3-1 contests today at the Concordia University tournament played in Wilsonville. The Owls fell to Pacific University in the opening game, while dropping the nightcap to George Fox University. Tech falls to 3-7 on the season.
Matt Bellando (0-3) gave up just five hits in eight innings, but the Owl bats scored just a single run in the ninth inning of game 1.
Pacific plated single runs in the second, fifth and eighth innings to go up 3-0.
Tech’s Ryan Hayden led off the last inning with a double to give the Owls hope. A Wade Elliot sac fly pushed Hayden across, but the game would end 3-1 after Tech went away quietly in the ninth.
Trent Smith and Kory Locken finished with two hits in the game, including a double for Smith.
In game 2, George Fox moved ahead 3-0 with runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings.
Once again Ryan Hayden would lead off the ninth inning with a double, but once again OIT would score just a single run, as the Owls fell by the same 3-1 score.
Zack Earle had the games only RBI, a sac fly, while adding a double in the game. Matt Bellando and Dylan Rogers accounted for Tech’s other two hits in the game. Dylan Bedortha (1-2) went six innings, scattered 10 hits and gave up just one earned run.
Oregon Tech plays Pacific Lutheran and Lewis & Clark College Sunday, both single nine inning contests.
