02.19.2012
SALEM, Ore. – Corban University held Oregon Tech to just 23.2% shooting on the way to the women’s Cascade Conference regular season championship, and a 55-39 victory tonight at C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
Corban jumped out 7-0 before Oregon Tech answered with a 5-0 run to pull within two, 7-5. An ensuing 8-0 run by the Warriors gave the home team a 10 point advantage.
The Owls answered back with an 8-3 spurt to trail 18-13 with 4:51 remaining in the opening stanza. Tech continued to keep it close trailing by single digits, but when Shayla Fetters tossed in desperation hook shot from 40 feet at the halftime buzzer, the Owls went to intermission down 30-20.
The Warriors jumped out to a 17 point advantage, on another Fetters triple, a few minutes into the second period. Oregon Tech would cut the deficit to 11 points, but would get no closer as the Owls fell 55-39.
Aundrea Albright finished with a double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds in the loss for the Owls. Karissa Dixon added nine points and eight rebounds.
Oregon Tech finishes out regular season action with a 21-9 overall mark while claiming fifth place in the CCC with a 10-8 record. The Owls will travel to Portland to play #4 seed Warner Pacific College on Tuesday, February 21st beginning at 7 p.m.
