Oregon Tech Sweeps Weekend With Two More Wins at NW Cup

CLACKAMAS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech softball team upped its record to 7-2 on the season after taking all six games played at the Northwest Cup Tournament hosted by Concordia University.
The Owls defeated Pacific Lutheran 4-2 in the early game on Sunday, while sweeping the weekend with a 7-1 victory over Willamette University.
Taylor Schmidt moved to 3-1 after giving up just one run on four hit in five innings versus PLU. Jackie Imhof got the save, pitching the last two innings.
Andria Wheatley and Janelle Cromie had two hits each for the Owls. Cromie hit her first homerun of the season, while Wheatley added a double.
Imhof went the distance versus Willamette allowing one run on three hits and striking out seven batters.
A five run third inning and two run fifth put Tech up 7-0 on Willamette. The Bearcats plated a single run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 7-1. The game would end by the same score.
Oregon Tech pounded out 12 hits with Wheatley, Bree Larson, Shauna Collins and Jess Plummer adding two each in the game. Plummer hit the games only homerun and drove in four runs for a total of 15 RBI for the weekend. Wheatley, Collins and Cromie added a RBI each.
Oregon Tech’s next action is this Friday and Saturday in Medford at the Southern Oregon Invitational played at US Cellular Field. OIT opens with William Jessup and Simpson University Friday and William Jessup and Holy Names Saturday.
