Yotes Best Owls, 15-4
02.21.2010
CALDWELL, Idaho – Oregon Tech rode a four game win streak into Caldwell to take on The College of Idaho in a non-conference battle between the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams in the NAIA West Preseason Poll, but it was all Yotes today winning by a 15-4 final this afternoon at Wolfe Field.
The Yotes came away with 17 hits on the day and did not take long to get to the Owl pitching, as Jordan Lanman led off with a seeing-eye single up the middle, followed by a Jared Arehart base hit. Diego Robles roped an RBI single up the middle, scoring Lanman, to make it 1-0. After a walk to Ray Santiago, Jesse Dodd lined a two-run single to left, with Santiago scoring on the play via an error. Jarel Lewis added an RBI single to make it 5-0.
The C of I would add another five-spot in the second to make it 10-0 - which was all the Yotes would need.
Colin Stock went 3-for-4 for OIT, while the Owls hit a pair of homers - a solo Cory Spires shot in the fifth, and a Zach Earle two-run long ball in the seventh.
Oregon Tech will return to action next weekend, traveling to Oakland, Calif. for the first league games of the season. Patten College will host the Owls in a four-game series beginning with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
