02.22.2010
Portland, Ore. – Oregon Tech freshman outfielder Sara Coates (Salem, Ore.) and senior forward Myles Daley (Medford, Ore.) earned Cascade Conference Player of the Week honors in their respective sports, the league office announced Monday.
In four games last weekend at the Northwest Cup softball tournament in Portland, Coates helped the Owls to a 3-1 record after an 8-for-13 effort at the plate, including six RBI and six runs. Coates also homered twice and doubled twice. Coates currently leads the softball team with a .406 batting average. Oregon Tech resumes play this Thursday versus Biola University in Medford at the Southern Oregon Tournament.
Daley, who recently reached the 1,000 point club for the Owls, averaged 18 points and 4.5 rebounds in weekend road sweep in Portland over Concordia University and No. 20 ranked Warner Pacific University. The two wins for the No. 2 ranked Hustlin’ Owls secured the 2009-10 Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season championship, a no. 1 seed into Cascade Conference tournament play and an automatic berth to the 2010 NAIA Division II National Tournament. Oregon Tech (26-4) begins the quarterfinal round of the CCC Tournament hosting no. 8 seed The College of Idaho on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
