Owls Drop Pair

02.25.2010

MEDFORD, Ore. – The Oregon Tech softball team held leads in the late innings of both games in day 1 of the Southern Oregon Tournament but was unable to secure a win in either, as the Owls fall to 5-7 on the season.

The Owls led 2-1 over Biola University heading to the last inning, but a three run 7th, aided by two Owl errors gave the lead to BU.  Oregon Tech could not come up with a rally in the bottom half and lost by a 4-2 final.

In the nightcap the Owls took a 4-2 lead into the 5th versus No. 11 ranked Concordia-Irvine.  CU-Irvine then pulled to 4-3 in the 6th and entering the last inning, a two-out pinch hit homerun tied the game in the 7th at 4-4.  An Owl error and back-to-back singles then gave Concordia-Irvine a 5-4 lead.  Tech was again unable to scratch across a run in the bottom half, losing by the same 5-4 score.

The Owls open up day 2 of the SOU tournament Friday at 11 am versus Holy Names University and will close out the day against Azusa Pacific at 1 pm.
