Owls Pound Patten Pitching in NAIA West Sweep

Del Mar, Calif. – The Oregon Tech baseball team hammered Patten pitching to the tune of 32 hits, including nine homeruns in today’s season opening doubleheader of NAIA West play, as the Owls took the opener 12-5 and the nightcap by a 14-4 final.
Oregon Tech is 8-11 overall and 2-0 in the South division of the NAIA West.
Cory Staniforth finished the afternoon with six hits, including four homeruns and nine RBI for the Owls in the sweep. Kory Locken was 7-for11 at the plate, while Zach Earle Connected for two homeruns in the opener on a 3-for-4 effort at the plate and five RBI. Matt Bellando went the distance for the Owls, giving up just six hits in seven innings and no earned runs.
In the nightcap Colin Stock struck for four hits, while Ryson Mauricio and Cory Spires had three hits each. Mauricio drove in four runs, while Owl hurler Darryl Swearingen got some help, thanks to an 11 run 6th inning, as he picked up the win going two innings and striking out two.
Oregon Tech will wrap up the four-game series with a doubleheader versus Patten tomorrow beginning at 11:00 am.
