Derek Evans Signs with Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech head men’s basketball coach, Dan Miles, announced this week that Derek Evans of Modesto, Calif. will join the Hustlin’ Owls for the 2012-13 season.
The highly recruited 6-foot-2 guard averaged 14.7 points and 7.0 rebounds for the Crusaders in 2011 on his way to Trans Valley all-league honors.
“Derek is an outstanding athlete and the best leaper ever recruited here in my tenure,” stated Miles. “Derek is a very exciting player with great potential and we are pleased to have him at Oregon Tech.”
Derek is the son of Elodia Tate and Marvin and Sunil Evans. Derek will major in communication studies beginning this fall.
Perennial powerhouse, Oregon Tech, is coming off an unprecedented fourth-straight regular season and fourth-straight Cascade Conference tournament championship and is ranked No. 2 in the final NAIA national poll. The Hustlin’ Owls (29-4), taking a 10th consecutive trip to the national tournament, will be attempting a third NAIA National Championship next week in Branson, Mo. where the Owls have never lost a first round game. Oregon Tech has won the NAIA Division II National Championship in both 2004 and 2008, including “Sweet 16” appearances at the NAIA national tournament the past three seasons.
