Final poll has Oregon Tech at No.7

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 4, 2009) - In the 11th edition of the 2008-09 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls (28-5) come in at the No. 7 spot in the final poll of the season.
The Owls stayed ranked in the top-10 the entire 2008-09 season, including the past 16 straight polls. Oklahoma Wesleyan holds onto No. 1 for the fourth straight week. Winning the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, OWU earned 12 of the 16 possible first-place votes and 433 total points.
There are four teams to receive the No. 1 ranking this season; Oregon Tech, Bethel (Ind.), Cedarville (Ohio) and Oklahoma Wesleyan. Oregon Tech and Walsh (Ohio) own the Division II active streak for longest run in the Top 25 at 51 straight weeks, dating back to Jan. 11, 2005.
The Cascade Conference will send four teams to the 2008-09 national tournament in Point Lookout, MO. Defending national champion, Oregon Tech, highlights the list of 32 teams as the Hustlin' Owls are gunning for their third title, and second straight. OIT owns the most wins (25) amongst this year's participants and is making its 11th overall appearance. EOU is ranked at the No.10 spot and received at-large berth #3. Warner Pacific comes into the tournament ranked No.15 and received at-large berth #6. Evergreen State, jumping to the No.23 spot this week, will represent the Cascade Conference as the CCC Tournament runner-up. There were 10 at-large berths to this year's championship.
The official announcement of the Championship bracket will be made by 12 p.m. CST on Thursday, March 5.
Look for the Hustlin' Owls to play Trinity Christian, Ill (23-8) or perhaps Sterling College, KS (21-9) in first round action. All of Oregon Tech's games will be broadcast live from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO on 92.5 KLAD-FM with Bobby Thompson and Mike Garrard March 11-17.
