Owl Women come away with 7 individual victories

ASHLAND, Ore. – Rachel Novak came away with two of the Oregon Tech women’s seven individual victories at the Artie Sullivan Invitational track and field meet Saturday in Ashland, taking both the 800-meter and 1500-meter races.

 

Novak won the 1,500-meter race in five minutes, 11.7 second, while teammates Amanda McMillan followed in second and Lori Carter third.  Novak also won the 800-meter run in 2:30.64.

 

On the men’s side, Walter Ross was the only individual champion for Tech with a 132 feet 5 inch throw in the hammer.

 

Nikki Smith won the 100-hurdle race in 15.8 seconds and Emily Neahring the long jump with a distance of 17-06.  Sarah Schelb won the Cal-State Chico javelin event on Friday with a toss of 145 feet and came back on Saturday to win the event in Ashland with a distance of 144-6.  LaShell Larman won the 100-meter dash in 13.19 and finished second in the 200 with a time of 27.2.

 

Oregon Tech is idle until they travel to Sacramento to take part in the Hornet Invitational hosted by Sacramento State.
