Owls Split Pair with Redhawks

Redding, Calif. - The Oregon Tech softball team split a pair of games today with Simpson University, winning game one 6-5 and dropping the nightcap 5-3. Oregon Tech moves to 5-5 overall on the season.
The Owls started the scoring, plating a single run in the first inning on a bases loaded walk.
Simpson tied the contest at 1-1 in the bottom half of the second. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the third and a single run in the fourth, as the teams headed to the fifth tied 4-4.
Back-to-back homeruns by Sinceray Titus and Katie King gave the Owls a 6-4 lead in the sixth. The Owls then held the Redhawks scoreless in the sixth, and held an SU rally to a single run in the seventh, to win 6-5 in game one.
Andria Wheatley stole home to score the Owls' first run of game two. Simpson tied the contest at 1-1 in the second.
A Brittany Warren solo homerun gave the Owls a 2-1 lead in the fourth, but Simpson soon plated a single run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the contest at 2-2.
Oregon Tech then regained the lead on an SU error to go up 3-2 in the sixth. A Simpson three-run rally in the sixth gave the home team a 5-3 lead heading to the last inning. Simpson then kept the Owl bats silent in the seventh to win the nightcap by the final of 5-3.
Andria Wheatley finished the day 4-6 at the plate, including a double, two runs and a RBI. Katie King tallied three hits and an RBI on a solo homerun. Titus was 3-4 at the plate in game one with two runs and homerun. Brittany Warren and Ashleigh Larson were both 1-3 and added an RBI, while Amber Sinicrope added a triple and was 2-4 in the first game.
