Owls go 1-2 in NAIA West Tripleheader
03.14.2010
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Oregon Tech baseball team pushed across 21 runs compared to just 10 for Bethany University, but the Owls could only come away with one victory over the Bruins after a tripleheader in NAIA West play today in San Jose. Oregon Tech is 11-13 overall and 5-2 in the south division of the NAIA West.
Oregon Tech fell behind 5-0 in the opener before Tech’s Colin Stock made it a 5-4 game with a grand slam in the seventh. The Owls got a walk, but could not get the tying run to the plate, losing game 1 by the same 5-4 final.
It was all Tech in game 2, as the Owl bats hammered Bruin pitching to even the three-game series 1-1, winning by 15-1 final .
The Bruins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the final game of today’s triple. A two run single by Cory Staniforth would cut the Owl deficit to just one run, 3-2. The Bruins would add an insurance rune late in the game and the Owls never could answer, falling by a 4-2 final.
