Three Run 9th Gives Owls Win

ATHERTON, Calif. – Trailing 7-5 heading into the bottom of the last inning, Oregon Tech’s Zack Earle singled to plate Ryan Hayden as the Owls took the series finale, 8-7, versus Menlo College.
The come from behind victory salvaged a split for OIT as the Owls now improve to 4-4 in NAIA West action and are 10-14 on the year. The Oaks fall to 6-10 in the conference standings and 9-19 overall.
A wild back and forth affair swung Oregon Tech's way in the final inning of a four game weekend conference set. Trailing 7-5 going into the bottom of the 9th, the Owls posted a three spot to complete a dramatic comeback, winning by a final of 8-7.
Down to their final out and trailing by a run, Oregon Tech had runners on the corners with Dylan Rogers at the dish. Rogers pushed a two-strike pitch right up the middle. Zack Earle followed Rogers' heroics with some of his own, grounding one off the glove of Menlo’s diving shortstop, pushing Ryan Hayden home with the winning run.
Alex Reynolds finished with three hits and a RBI to lead the Tech offense. Dylan Rogers, Zack Earle and Brad Walters tallied two hits, including a double each, with Rogers driving in three runs, Walters two and Earle one. Earle moved to 3-2 on the season after pitching the final two innings allowing two hits and no earned runs while striking out two.
