Owls Drop a Pair to William Jessup

Tech's Kayde Schaefer homered Twice |
ROCKLIN, Calif. - Oregon Tech catcher Kayde Schaefer homered in each of today's games versus William Jessup University, but it was not enough run support as the Warriors took both non-conference contests from the Owls this afternoon in California. Oregon Tech fell 3-2 in game 1 and 5-3 in the nightcap.
Oregon Tech fell behind 3-1 after the third inning of the opener, but would pull to within a run, 3-2, with a run in the seventh. The late inning rally was cut short, however, as Tech would fall by the same 3-2 final.
After five complete innings and the teams tied at 2-2 in the nightcap, the Warriors answered with a three run 6th to take control of game 2. The Owls rallied again in the 7th but only could plate a single run, dropping game 2 by a 5-3 decision.
Andria Wheatley finished with four hits on the day, while Taylor Schmidt and Schaefer added three hits each. Schaefer would hit two homeruns, while Schmidt added a solo shot in game 1.
Oregon Tech could not come up with timely hitting, stranding a total of 14 base runners on the day - seven in each game. The Owls fall to 15-13 on the season and travel to NCAA III Willamette University on Wednesday before starting up league play on the road this weekend.
